Life is too short to settle when you have the opportunity to change. There has always been a piece of me that knew that being an attorney was a calling. It's a way for me to use my knowledge and experience to help people and to make a positive impact on the world.
I have been fortunate enough to adapt and keep moving forward. My wife and kids are my support system and are the reason I push myself to always be better today than I was yesterday. I wouldn't be here without them and I know how fortunate I am to have such a blessing in my life. I want my clients to know, especially those who have never worked with an attorney, that they might be a bit surprised during our first meeting. Why? Because my passion is for the people I come in contact with every day. I work diligently to become the best in my field, not for myself, but for those around me.
Now, here is what my wife wrote when I asked her to help me write my bio. I promised her that I would share it with my clients:
"Andrew is a tech nerd! He loves his family, his dogs and his electronics....in that order most of the time. For the sake of this bio I think it's important for his clients to know that this man has the strongest moral compass of anyone I've ever met. If you knew him well enough you'd wonder how a person with that big of a conscience could be an attorney. Unfortunately, that's because much of the time you only hear about the attorney's who use their knowledge and power in negative ways. When we made the decision for Andrew to go back to school....again....to become an attorney it was because we wanted to use that knowledge to help people succeed! To help families rebound from bankruptcy and start a better life. To help small businesses start and grow and thrive. To help families understand the importance of a solid estate plan and then help them build a plan that provides peace of mind. Whatever your dream may be, we want to help you achieve it because this law firm is our dream come true and we want to pay it forward. I can promise you one thing for certain: Andrew will always have your best interests at heart and he will do right by you." -Melissa
Below you will find a more formal version of a bio, covering my education and experience. I look forward to our paths crossing soon. Until then, keep moving forward!
I received my Juris Doctorate from Western Michigan University Thomas M. Cooley Law School in 2013 and am licensed to practice law in the State of Michigan. I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Wright State University and a Master of Arts in Political Science from Virginia Tech.
I spent my first two years of practice at a well-regarded estate planning and business law firm in Marshall, MI. While there, I discovered an affinity for the areas of estate planning, estate administration, probate, elder law, and business law. I left the firm to follow my dream of becoming a U.S. Army Judge Advocate (more commonly referred to as a JAG), attending to my Judge Advocate officer training in the Fall/Winter of 2015/16. I now serve part-time in the National Guard, after having served nine years of active and reserve service my first time around as a soldier. My love for animals sparked a desire to specialize in animal law; I am now one of the few practitioners in the area devoting a significant portion of my practice to this area of law. Importantly, my concern for all people to live happy and fulfilled lives inspired me to develop a family law practice. I now devote much of my practice to helping women, men, and children successfully navigate some of the most difficult moments in their lives.
When I am not honing my craft as an attorney, I keep busy. I love to read, write, and tinker with gadgets When I'm not tinkering, I enjoy being outdoors with my wife, Melissa; my three children, Evan, Maya, and Rohan; and my three dogs, a Clover, Paco, and George. Additionally, Melissa and I enjoy spending time at the many outstanding eateries and craft breweries throughout Southwest Michigan.
